I have wish lists with art supplies, gel pens, makeup, cologne, comic books, personal cravings and all too often 7-11 Pizza although this campaign widens my selections so Little Cesars, Round Table or BBQ get to join the list of things that brighten up the darkness a bit until I can get them comfortable and confident enough to walk around in the light with no fears or anxiety. Birthdays are a rarity in the unhoused communities and I find bringing cake, cookies, ice cream and a community card just brightens the day for everyone. Those who I can barely get there real names out of them are an open book when I ask them what flavor they like, what kind of cake, the fact they get to choose, I tell you I have them then, I can't lose. They know they matter to at least me and can trust that I am there for the long run and we can start moving in the right direction finally.
